the rothmans label combines an unlikely link between football statistics, some of the best (or worst) haircuts to grace the european version of the game, with jacking drums and acid-based rhythmics. the label dedicates its third ep to french striker dominique rochetea, with a various artists ep as strong as the back four of arsenals 98 fa cup winning side. the nigel winterburn of the release is coyotes without the e, a squelchy and balearic groove with psychedelic vocals not too far off from dj koze mrs bojangles. aimes and scott fraser provide the ep with the composure of tony adams and the brute force of martin keown with their respective synth-led productions the kontemplation of kosmic order and heat for dust, while on the right - a would be lee dixon - drvg cvltvre, supplies the master builder, an ebm and industrious dancefloor workout.

the recordings for the wires cracked were completed in a frenzied two week period in october of 2012. i had mentioned in discussing a previous albums construction that i prefer to forget how i build any particular electro-acoustic amalgam. this is so that i dont get to precious with them, so that i could refine them further, so that the sounds themselves speak beyond their aggregate parts. with the album being relatively fresh in my mind, i can still recall various components to the wires cracked -- the desolate howl of a metal screen activated by a desert wind, the hissing air compression from the cooling apparatus for a laser at the slac national accelerator laboratory operated by stanford university, and the tremolo rhythms from a thin wire that still get me thinking fondly of günter schickert -- but much of the caustic drone, thrumming reverberation, and tactile grit thoroughly escapes me. that is probably for the best, since these various parts speak to an existential rupturing, the collapse of the self, the aftershocks of dark energy, and a belief in the hope for renewal. as the title suggests the new before the show album depicts beginnings and endings. we believe that life has many different beginnings and endings, and that the various journeys we take from one beginning to one end are filled with detours – and it is these detours which continually shape and define us as the people we are. musically years&years&years picks up where hearts and heads left off, however, it has developed towards a bigger and more complex sound image. it can best be described as a combination of sting and peter gabriel on one hand, and smashing pumpkins and radiohead on the other.

ppbr streetgang have a long lasting relationship with 2020vision, through the various record shops, dancefloors and after parties shared in leeds over the years. they have also remixed tracks from the last two crazy p albums for the label. as residents at we love at space ibiza theyve carved a niche as a classy dj double act as adept at backroom disco sets or terrace filling house tear ups, all delivered with a smattering of funk and good times. their debut 2020 ep follows up their >downstroke< release for hot creations, a huge throbbing low slung houser indebted to mike dunns classic >god made me phunky<. this ep continues the vibe of this last release, all tracks drip with funk in a sleazy house flavour with a definite disco edge. much like the pbr dj sound they have now found a trademark production style that utilises their love of a body shaking bassline, crisp beats, quirky samples and a unifying groove.

record store day is synonymous with exclusive and limited releases and this year is no different. featuring a collaboration ep with adrianyounge from venice dawn and black dynamite fame and adrian quesada from the echocentrics, ocote soul sounds, brownout and grammy-winning grupo fantasma. a first name is not all adrian younge and adrian quesada share, they also both have an equal love of the psychedelic, the cinematic and at the root of it all, soul music. so it was inevitable that a collaboration would eventually come to fruition. mutual admirers of each others work, they first met at the sxsw music festival while on the same bill. both began their production careers on mpc and taught themselves various instruments to further capture the symphonies heard in their heads. fresh off his current solo project something about april under the moniker venice dawn, adrian younge found time to create all new tracks with adrian quesada who just released his echoland tribute to timbaland with the echocentrics. although both are distinct artists in their own right, they are cut from the same cloth with a signature sound thats equal parts morricone, early portishead, wu-tang and 60s psychedelic cinema soundtracks. their combined efforts on this ep guarantees a double dose of the sound we have come to expect from these talented individuals.

for the fourth ep on austere, irelands slowburn are welcomed into the fold. having impressed us with releases on uzuri and elektrosouls this ep will not disappoint fans of the label to kick things off we have the the hustle which sounds like something that prescription forgot to release back in the day! next up is broken document which delivers lovely warm analogue chords and pads interlaced with an 808 groove. the b-side starts off with do it using various samples to great effect to culminate in a unique deep house sound. finishing things off in much the same territory is from another angle which again brings the warm chords and pads, but also brings to the table some really delicate synth lines to create a surreal effect.

in 2010 the la based label halo cyan records re-released vladislav delay s sistol project. for this deluxe 2cd reissue various well known electronic musicians remixed the recordings from 1999. the whole project received enthusiastic reviews in pitchfork, resident advisor, etc. one of the remixers is mike huckaby, who transferred sistols track >keno< into an outstanding dubby detroit-house masterpiece. it was immediately clear that this track had to be released on vinyl. we are delighted to announce the collaboration between halo cyan and slics of life for mike huckabys s y n t h remix of keno. on the b-side, mike huckaby remixed a track originally produced in the same time period: poles >silberfisch< was released in 2000 on the highly acclaimed yellow album >3<, re-released by scape in 2008 as part of the 3-cd pole box. in 2011, mike huckaby keeps the dubby and slightly melancholic crackling atmosphere of the original, but his s y n t h remix is beams >silberfisch< straight onto the dancefloor, where it arrives as a driving deep techno track.

brandon johnson, the artist known as tridact, has been putting together his mix of analog electronics and beats for some time. growing up in and around santa barbara, california, he has recently traded the beaches and foothills of southern california to move to the forests and mountains of southern oregon. after participating in various bands and other musical projects in santa barbara, he bought a simple setup consisting of a midi sequencer, a sampler and a couple of vintage synthesizers and began creating his own electronic music. over time he built up a small studio and added some live instrumentation into the mix. in the late 2000s, he began posting some of his tracks online, eventually leading to his first release, >light minute<, on the synchronicity suite compilation on moodgadget records, alongside artists such as wisp and mux mool. the track was later re-released on ghostly internationals nocturnal suite compilation. on tridact’s debut album on prins thomas internasjonal label, he creates an eclectic blend of densely layered, melodic, song-oriented instrumental tracks which combine analog synthesizers, guitars and programmed beats. the album draws from influences ranging from 60s pop to disco, house, techno and breakbeat to make a sound that reflects a distinctly pacific coast experience. from the new tridact album (intcd0002) we have cherry picked these tracks for a exclusive vinyl edition spread over 1 12 inch and a 7 inch.

krasimir gyurov (vizar) has dealt with electronic music since 2000. his style is influenced by nature with hypnotic deep pads and mystic drones. in 2004 he made a contact with underground a netlabel scene and several years later he released his first eps for spanish netlabels offaudio and antiritmo. from 2008 he played on the biggest underground techno festival in his country bulgaria - artmospheric festival, where the guests were donato dozzy, brando lupi, dave twomey. ness became interested in electronic music in the late 90s. in 2004 he started djing, taking inspiration from various genres going from trance to pure experimentation. the interest in music led him to attend various courses and audio engineer for some years and the conservatory of his hometown. the need to express his emotions through music led him to experiment and research in recent years that better reflect his sound.since 2009 he founded his own label mono records with his friend bettosun, and releases music in labels such as prologue, sonata and varianz. the experience gained over the years leads to define his dj sets that are characterized by a strong array of techno and house at the same time.

the response to sven kacireks album the kenya sessions (pingipung 20) was overwhelming. the cooperation between the drummer-producer from hamburg and musicians from kenya links electroni- ca with african recordings in a unique, exciting fa- shion. it therefore has been and still is being praised in various scenes from techno to jazz to world mu- sic. the cd will receive the award preis der deut- schen schallplattenkritik in may 2011, category: nu and extreme. also friends of the label have been enthusiastic about e quality of this material. pingipung therefore re- leases a 10inch vinyl with reworks of the album in the end of may. lawrence, hamburgs most melancholy house artist, co-owner of the labels dial, smallville and laid dedicates himself to the track kayamba tuc tuc. he reduces the track to its essen- ce, without adding anything new, and edit full of wisdom with heartfelt warmth. taprikk sweezee is the best known moniker of the musician nikolai von sallwitz next to gizmog or fussel . taprikk sweezee builds his soul glitch beats with ease, and he is by the way the most convincing electronic performer we know these days. one single track was not enough for his mix. wed love to see him dance with all the kenyan musicians who play on his two originals of choice, kayamba tuc tuc and mariae. furthermore on this 10inch: a rework of paperflowers by sven kacirek himself, created in cooperation with samy de- luxe producer sebastian winkler. finally, less a bonus but maybe the secret highlight: the ex- clusive sven kacirek track takaye village!

drums have been discovered in almost every part of the world. drums first appeared, however, in excavation from the neolithic era. the oldest recorded drum is from 6000 bc. mesopotamian ruins contain small cylindrical drums that are as old as 3000 bc. egyptian tombs have yielded small drums used for ceremonies. several caves in peru contain wall markings depicting drums in various aspects of societal life. it is strongly suspected that indian drums from the middle east are as old as 5000 bc. the american indians used a series of wood and gourd drums for their celebrations and some of these drums are still used in ceremonies today. drums were not always used for music. in africa, where music is simply an interpretation of everyday life in sound, drums were used as speech. simply a pattern of beats played in a certain way could communicate vast amounts of information. jeff mills creates the drummer (pm-022). 6 track 12 vinyl ep. mills communicates through only a classic roland tr-808 drum machine, exclusively made for the purpose maker/axis. each track dedicated for the masters of the art form of drumming like: neil peart, billy cobham, buddy rich and others, mills explores how drum patterns and rhythms remain communicative on a higher level that has endured through evolution of humanity.
